ZURICH: FIFA announced Friday that it will be globalising its Women’s World Cup 2019 Trophy Tour for the first time in its history.
It is set to be launched in Paris on Sunday, the venue for the first match of the competition as well between France and Korea on 7 June. The tournament will end exactly a month later.
The Trophy Tour will comprise of a two-month journey across 24 different stops and six continents. It will return to hosts France in a final celebratory stop.
Several of the tour’s stops will be open to the public where fans will get a glimpse of the championship prize in person. FIFA Legends such as Michael Essien, Mikael Silvestre, Tim Cahill and others from women’s football will be in attendance at various stops to meet fans and celebrate the imminent start of the tournament.
