BENGALURU: Over 2,900 people from in and around Bengaluru joined in last Sunday for the UST Global-sponsored APR Marathon 2018, with the tagline and purpose ‘Run for a Cause’. The event, along with other associated sports events conducted by the APR Charitable Trust (APRCT) raised Rs. 6.67 million, which will be used in the areas of education, women’s health & empowerment.
The 2018 edition reached its eighth year, which is held annually. It raises awareness and funds year after year for social causes to improve the lives of the underprivileged in the city. UST Global, a leading digital transformation solutions company has been a principal partner for the sixth consecutive year in a row.
APR Charitable Trust (ACT) is a group of Adarsh Palm Retreat (APR) residents, professionals who have returned to India after several years of living outside. ACT started in 2011, and the trust has been in formal existence since April 2013. APRCT projects have impacted over 20,000 beneficiaries over the last seven years.
APR Charitable Trust founding trustee Govind Thirumalai said: “Since inception, we have been able to make an impact on over 20,000 people with various social initiatives. We are very grateful to all citizens who came forward with participation and kind contribution towards our vision of helping the underprivileged. As part of our this year’s project, we are committed to help Devarabisanahalli Govt. School convert into a model school, amongst other initiatives.”
