MUMBAI: Star India is all set to debut its third regional sports channel – Star Sports 1 Telugu – to its bouquet on 7 December.
The broadcaster has been testing the channel on AsiaSat 7 at 105 East, Televisionpost.com reports.
Also on the launch agenda is Star Sports 1 Kannada, which is scheduled to start beaming into Indian homes anytime before 31st December, as per the declaration made by the network last month.
Star has already announced plans to launch regional sports channels in Bengali, Marathi, and Malayalam.
The trade portal further reports that as per the new MRP regime, Star Sports 1 Telugu and Star Sports 1 Kannada have been priced at Rs 19 each.
Telugu star Rana Daggubati has been roped in as the face of the new channel and the broadcaster has been running promos on Telugu channels to announce the launch.
Till now, Star was broadcasting Telugu feeds for different sporting events on Star Maa Movies.
With the launch of Star Sports 1 Telugu, Star’s sports portfolio will comprise nine SD and five HD channels. Other channels include Star Sports 1, Star Sports 1 HD, Star Sports 2, Star Sports 2 HD, Star Sports 3, Star Sports 1 Hindi, Star Sports 1 Hindi HD, Star Sports Select 1, Star Sports Select 1 HD, Star Sports Select 2, Star Sports Select 2 HD, Star Sports 1 Tamil, and Star Sports First.
