GURUGRAM: The DLF Golf and Country Club, home of numerous prestigious Asian and European Tour professional tournaments, has been honoured with the coveted Asia Pacific Order of Zenith at the Asian Golf Awards 2018, IANS reports.
The award ceremony, widely considered as the “Oscars” of awards in the Asian golf industry, was part of the 2018 Asia Pacific Golf Summit which was staged from 1-3 November in Bangkok. It was attended by delegates from over 22 countries.
The DLF Golf and Country Club became the first golf club of the country to receive this honour. It also won the The Best Locker Room award. The club boasts of a brand new 18 holes Championship Golf Course designed by Gary Player commissioned in 2015 and the original 9-hole course designed by Arnold Palmer.
Over the past decade and a half, this club has hosted many Asian and European Tour professional tournaments, including the Asian, Australian, and European co-sanctioned Johnnie Walker Classic in 2008.
Among other tournaments hosted include European Tour-sanctioned events like the Avantha Masters (2010, 2011 and 2012), the Hero Men’s Indian Open 2017 and six editions of the Hero Women’s Indian Open.
It was a memorable event for DLF as the company’s senior executive director Aakash Ohri received the title of Asia Pacific Personality of the year.
