MUMBAI: Retired Indian cricketers Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Praveen Kumar, S Badrinath and Reetinder Singh Sodhi have confirmed their participation for the second edition of the T10 League, the organisers said in a statement.
The second season of T10 League, sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC), will be played over 12 days starting from November 21 till December 2.
Last week T10 League announced Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) as official broadcast partner in the Indian sub-continent and Middle East & North Africa for a three-year period, starting with the 2018 edition.
T10 League will be shown live on SONY ESPN and SONY ESPN HD channels in India, Ten Sports in Pakistan, Ten Cricket in Middle East & North Africa, and will also be streamed live on their digital platform SonyLIV.
The player draft held on September 24 gave a glimpse into the big-ticket names that will ply their trade in the latest format of the game. West Indies’ swashbuckling batsman Chris Gayle was the top pick joining defending champions Kerala Kings for this edition.
Afghanistan spin wizard Rashid Khan, Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi and Shoaib Malik, England’s Eoin Morgan, New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum, West Indies’ Sunil Narine and Darren Sammy and Australia’s Shane Watson are some of the other top draws to play in the league.
One of India’s most successful fast bowlers, Zaheer spearheaded the country’s pace attack for many years, including at the 2011 World Cup, and has over 600 international wickets across all formats.
Singh, another left-arm pacer who announced his retirement from all forms of cricket last month, was a part of the Indian team that won the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa where he emerged as the second-highest wicket-taker in the competition.
Badrinath is regarded as one of the most successful first-class cricketers.
Earlier, Virender Sehwag was named the T10 Cricket League icon along with Shahid Afridi.
Besides appointing Sehwag and Afridi as the league icons, former Pakistan cricket legend Wasim Akram has been entrusted the task of global talent hunt as director of Talent Hunt Programme.
Eight teams – Kerala Kings, Punjab Legends, Maratha Arabians, Bengal Tigers, The Karachians, Rajputs, Northern Warriors and Pakhtoons – have been drawn into two groups to fight it out in the second Season of T10 League.
The Karachians and Northern Warriors are the new additions to what was a six-team proposition in the inaugural edition of the league.
The event takes place at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
