MUMBAI: Sports Flashes, India’s first online radio channel and a multi-sports app has become the official radio partner for all cricket matches globally featuring the Indian cricket team, IANS reports.
The audio rights have been secured for five years according to a statement which did not mention the financial aspects of the deal.
Sports Flashes will be using the services of renowned commentators like former West Indies skipper Carl Hooper, Ricardo Powell, Syed Kirmani, Mohammad Kaif, Atul Wassan, Rohan Gavaskar, Lisa Sthalekar, Reetinder Singh Sodhi and Ashok Malhotra from the West Indies series, starting on Thursday.
Commenting on the occasion, Hooper said: “I am happy to be associated with the Sports Flashes and creating a World Class experience for cricket loving fans in my home country.”
Kaif said: “With growing cricket lovers worldwide cricket needs to maximise its global outreach through avenues never heard before.”
Radio Sports Flashes’ rise has been meteoric since its launch in January as it also recently bagged the Indian audio rights for broadcasting all matches of world football’s biggest league, the English Premier League in partnership with talkSPORT. It was also announced that Sports Flashes will provide a ‘skill’ for Amazon’s popular virtual assistant tech device, Alexa for playing commentary on demand.
