GUWAHATI: Champion athlete Hima Das continues to be in demand from corporates in the country as public sector company, Indian Oil Corp inducted her as an officer on Monday. IOC will provide Das with many benefits which will assist her in training for top national and international athletics events. IOC has a history of roping in some of the best sporting talents across the country as a part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities.
“The company is privileged to have Hima Das as one of the IndianOil family members and it’s a mutually win-win situation for both IndianOil and the Dhing Express (as she is known popularly).
“While her future laurels will add value to IndianOil’s image, IndianOil will be providing the salary and other facilities as befitting an officer to her,” IOC said in a statement.
IOC chief general manager Uttiya Bhattacharyya confirmed that Das will serve as a Grade A HR Officer in Guwahati and assured that the development won’t hamper her sporting progress.
“The Corporation provides 250 scholarships for budding sportspersons and has a policy for employing established sportspersons under sports job quota in 16 different sports.
“All the associated costs of travelling to various locations for attending national and international track and field competitions are completely provided for by Indian Oil.” Bhattacharyya said.
For Das, this is her second association in a week with a public sector firm as State Bank of India recently signed her up as its brand ambassador for the ‘YONO’ Digital Banking program.
