Dhoni sues realty firm claiming Rs1.5bn dues

MUMBAI: MS Dhoni, who was the brand ambassador for Amrapali Group for six-seven years, has reportedly sued the real estate company seeking unpaid dues to the tune of Rs1.5 billion.

According to the Economic Times, the firm is caught in a financial crisis and has left many housing projects incomplete in many cities.

MS Dhoni’s management firm Rhiti Sports, which also manages KL Rahul, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Faf du Plessis, has filed a recovery suit in the Delhi High Court against Amrapali.

“They haven’t given us money for branding and marketing activities,” the ET report quotes Arun Pandey, Dhoni’s childhood friend and managing director of Rhiti Sports, as having stated. He further added that the firm actually owes Dhoni close to Rs2 billion.

It was in April 2016 when Dhoni resigned from the role of brand ambassador after being trolled on social media by residents who were protesting over unfinished work. The residents had tagged him in their tweets, asking him to either dissociate himself from the builder or make sure that they complete the pending work.

According to reports, Amrapali Group had announced of gifting players villas for their victory in ICC World Cup 2011. The independent villa in Amrapali Dream Valley Project at Noida worth Rs90 million were reportedly never gifted or built.
