HYDERABAD: Ace Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth has been appointed as a deputy collector by the Andhra Pradesh government.
State chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu handed over the appointment letter to him in Amravati last Thursday in the presence of former All-England champion and celebrated badminton coach Pullela Gopichand, ANI reports.
Naidu also congratulated Srikanth for being awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian award.
After bagging the title at the Indonesian Championship in June last year, Srikanth was felicitated by Naidu in Vijayawada and was also promised a government job, the newswire reports.
Later in November 2017, the state cabinet passed a resolution to appoint Srikanth as deputy collector in Group-1 service.
