LONDON: England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has gone on the front foot and decided to provide his perspective on the future of Test cricket, which is a common point of discussion in all cricketing circles.
In a tweet, he said that only five countries will continue to play Test cricket and 10 years down the line all the others will be competing only in white ball cricket.
“Here we go – in 10yrs the only cricket Test playing nations will be England, SA, India, Pakistan & Australia. The rest will all be white ball cricketers!” he tweeted.
He is so confident of his prediction that he writes: “Just remember this tweet”.
This means that even the other five full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC) will opt out of this traditional format. The biggest omission is West Indies, which has been a force in all formats but has recently produced more players in the T20 format.
