MUMBAI: City’s hockey franchise Dabang Mumbai Hockey Club has joined hands with Hockey Australia to introduce and promote the sport at the grassroots level here.
‘Hookin2Hockey’ would be an outreach programme aimed to give children a flavor of the team sport.
The partnership with Hockey Australia will also give the children an experience to learn nuances from some of the best in the sport today, a media release issued here states.
‘Hookin2Hockey’ will be a 6-day programme organised at Mahindra Hockey Stadium here from January 15-20 before the commencement of the fifth season of Hockey India League.
The program will witness participation of over 500 boys and girls from 20 schools along with 40 coaches.
Experts from Hockey Australia including James Liggins, participation manager and Ben Hartung, general manager, Operations, will be driving these special sessions. Hockey Australia will be providing all the required equipment for participants at the sessions, the release adds.
