KOCHI: The inaugural edition of Super League Kerala (SLK) kicked off with a match between Forca Kochi FC and Malappuram FC at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Saturday.
The Super League Trophy was also revealed in the inaugural function.
The event was elevated by the presence of film actors and club owners Prithviraj and Asif Ali, along with many other honorary guests who graced the first match-up that was won 2-0 by Malappuram FC.
The All India Football Federation secretary general Anilkumar was present.
Both Kochi and Malappuram fans welcomed their favourite players with enthusiastic chants and vibrant tifos, creating an electrifying atmosphere that resonated throughout the stadium.
The opening ceremony featured Bollywood star Jacqueline Fernandez alongside music artists Stephan Devassy, Shivamani, Dabzee, DJ Savyo, and DJ Sekhar.
SLK, featuring six franchises from across the state, aims to revive the football spirit in Kerala and provide a platform for local talent to shine alongside international stars.
Matches are scheduled in Kochi, Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Thiruvananthapuram.
