MUMBAI: Sanjog Gupta, the CEO of Live Sports & Experiences, JioStar, is likely to replace Geoff Allardice, the chief executive officer of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Guardian newspaper reported this development saying that three sources have told them that Gupta is the frontrunner for the position . Allardice is serving his notice period which will end in July.
Jay Shah, the former secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, became the chairman of ICC in December 2024, and if Gupta becomes the CEO, this would mean a more influential role for India in the governing body that controls the sport.
A graduate in Economics from the Delhi University, Gupta went on the become the CEO of Sports in Star India, and has been heading the sports vertical in the newly formed Jiostar, a joint venture between Viacom18, Reliance Industries and Disney India.
