In a significant move to bolster the Indian sports ecosystem, GoSports Foundation (GSF) and Sports and Society Accelerator (SSA) have unveiled the Billion Plus Sports Incubator. This initiative is designed to foster social enterprises within the sporting domain, promoting universal access, inclusion, and impactful social change through sport and physical activity (SAPA).
The Billion Plus Sports Incubator will focus on nurturing high-potential social enterprises that leverage SAPA to benefit underrepresented and marginalized communities. The project aims to build capacity, promote talent, and bridge demographic and geographic gaps within India’s sporting framework, enhancing economic and social well-being through sport.
Deepthi Bopaiah, CEO of GoSports Foundation, highlighted the importance of this initiative in expanding sports benefits to all. Abhishek Laxminarayan, Trustee at GoSports, emphasized the role of CSR and philanthropic funding, while Desh Gaurav Sekhri, Co-Founder of SSA, noted the potential for SAPA to become central to India’s social transformation. Positioned ahead of India’s Olympic bid, the Incubator is set to drive universal SAPA participation by 2047.
