Mizoram’s capital, Aizawl, is gearing up to host the second edition of its international urban downhill mountain biking challenge, with officials confirming that Aizawl will once again stage the Red Bull Aizawl Tlang Ruam this November.
The announcement followed a high-level review meeting chaired by Mizoram Sports and Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who assessed preparations for the event. Hmar emphasised the importance of making this year’s edition “bigger, more inclusive, and even more challenging”.
Hmar added, “Aizawl Tlang Ruam is a symbol of Mizoram’s growing capacity to host world-class events. Beyond being a sport, it is an opportunity to foster youth engagement, local economic growth, and global connectivity.”
Officials confirmed that the upcoming race will feature an extended and more technically demanding route, aligned with international downhill racing standards. The state tourism department, in collaboration with Red Bull and private sponsors, plans to promote the event extensively, aiming to establish Aizawl as a premier destination for extreme sports enthusiasts.
The integration of local communities will also be a key focus, with plans for cultural showcases and youth engagement programmes — intended to create lasting economic and social impact.
The inaugural edition in October 2024 drew elite downhill riders from across the globe and firmly placed Mizoram on the global adventure sports map. Riders tackled steep stairways and narrow alleys in a dramatic demonstration of skill, speed, and precision — all set against Aizawl’s striking urban topography.
