CHANDIGARH: Reinforcing its commitment to nurturing grassroots talent, Trident Group has stepped forward to provide financial and institutional backing to emerging Indian boxer Pooja Rani.
Rani’s boxing career began in the most modest of settings, training without access to proper facilities or equipment and relying on a punching bag tied to a tree near her home. Yet, through sheer perseverance and discipline, she rose to achieve remarkable success at both state and national levels, Babushahi Bureau reports.
Competing in the under-19 category, the Barnala, Punjab native already boasts an impressive list of accolades: a gold medal at the National Championship in Ranchi (2023), a silver at the National Championship in Chhattisgarh (2025), two silver medals at the Punjab State Games (Khedan Watan Punjab Dian) and a gold at the Federation State Championship.
Despite these achievements, limited financial resources had curtailed her chances to compete internationally. Recognising her potential, Padma Shri Rajinder Gupta, Chairman Emeritus of Trident Group, awarded her a financial grant of Rs.1 lakh and pledged ongoing sponsorship to support her future in the sport.
The initiative is part of Trident Group’s broader vision to uplift grassroots talent, ensuring promising athletes are not constrained by circumstance but propelled forward through opportunity.
