Kozhikode Kingslayers clinched the title in the first-ever Kerala Premier Chess League, defeating Palakkad Panthers 13.5–6.5 in the final round at the Jimmy George Indoor Stadium.
The Kingslayers walked away with a winners’ purse of Rs.10 lakh, while runners-up Palakkad Panthers earned Rs.7 lakh. Kollam Knights, who triumphed in the losers’ final after the semi-finals, secured Rs.4 lakh, and Thrissur Thunders finished fourth with Rs.3 lakh.
Organised by the Premier Chess Academy, the two-day event featured 14 district-based teams and offered a total prize pool of Rs.25 lakh — making it one of the most lucrative chess leagues in India outside the FIDE circuit.
