THE SECOND EDITION of The Poona Club Open teed off today at the Poona Club Golf Course, jointly hosted by The Poona Club Ltd. and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the official sanctioning body of professional golf in India. The four-day tournament, running from 28–31 October, carries a total prize purse of Rs 1 crore.
The event is supported by host venue Poona Club Golf Course, title sponsors Vencobb and NECC, and sponsors Ventive, SKS Fasteners, Elica, Marvel Realtors, Shubbaan Investments, DFMC, Automech, and Kinetic. Novotel Pune Nagar Road is the associate partner, a media release said.
A strong field of 126 players including 123 professionals and three amateurs has assembled for the 72-hole stroke-play event. Leading Indian professionals such as DP World Tour regular Veer Ahlawat, 2025 PGTI Ranking leader Yuvraj Sandhu, Arjun Prasad, Angad Cheema, Shaurya Bhattacharya, Om Prakash Chouhan, and Manu Gandas headline the competition. The international challenge is led by Sri Lanka’s N Thangaraja and Nepal’s Subash Tamang.
The host venue will be represented by professionals Rohan Dhole Patil, Pranav Mardikar, Gurki Shergill (a PGTI winner), Akshay Damale, Pravin Pathare, Aaron Rockey, Aditya Bhandarkar, Sameer M Shaikh, Rajiv Datar, Jaideep Patwardhan, and Sunil Galphade. Local amateurs Shamit Dhakne, Ved Kakatkar, and Arkin Patil are also in action this week.
A halfway cut will be applied after 36 holes, with the top 50 players and ties advancing to the final.
