KINGSHUK MITRA has stepped down as head of impact properties, agency partnerships, measurement and branded content at JioStar.
Mitra assumed the role in January 2025 and played a key role in shaping the platform’s partnerships and monetisation strategy during a period of rapid evolution within India’s digital and sports media landscape.
Prior to joining JioStar, Mitra served as head of ad sales, sports at The Walt Disney Company, managing one of India’s largest sports advertising portfolios. During his tenure, Disney Star strengthened its leadership in sports broadcasting through flagship properties including the Indian Premier League (IPL) and ICC events.
Under his stewardship, the company delivered record-breaking sports advertising revenues, achieving consistent year-on-year growth. He doubled the advertiser base within a year from 94 to 184, with more than 30 per cent being new-to-category and digital-first brands. He also oversaw a 65 per cent increase in revenue across key sectors such as consumer goods and fintech. Mitra further expanded the non-cricket slate, driving over 100 per cent growth in kabaddi and football revenues and contributing to a diversified sports revenue mix for Disney Star.
Before his time at Disney Star, Mitra spent more than 16 years with WPP in senior leadership roles. As COO for APAC at Essence/GroupM, based in Singapore, he led profitability, operational strategy and regional expansion, establishing new offices in China and spearheading ‘Project Penelope’, GroupM’s largest regional transformation programme integrating multiple agencies and markets.
Earlier stints at Maxus India, Madison World, Mindshare and Emami Ltd cemented his reputation as a versatile media leader with extensive experience across brand strategy, digital transformation, media investment and client leadership.
