BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA (BCCI) has announced a cash reward of Rs 51 crore for the Indian women’s team after their memorable triumph over South Africa in the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup final on Sunday.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the decision, describing it as a tribute to the side’s historic achievement at the DY Patil Stadium. “BCCI is elated and without touching anything from the ICC kitty, BCCI on its own is going to pay, as a reward, of Rs 51 crores to the Indian team. That amount will go to the players, selectors as well as the support staff headed by Amol Muzumdar,” Saikia told ANI.
This reward comes in addition to the prize money from the ICC. Prior to the tournament, ICC chairman Jay Shah announced a significant increase in prize money for the Women’s World Cup, with the champions earning USD 4.48 million. This marks a substantial rise from the USD 1.32 million awarded to Australia’s women in 2022 and is higher than the USD 4 million given to Australia’s men after their 2023 World Cup win in Ahmedabad.
However, the sum remains considerably lower than the Rs 125 crore awarded to India’s men’s team by BCCI following their T20 World Cup victory in 2024.
