Freedom Sunflower Oil unveils campaign with Rahul Dravid

FREEDOM SUNFLOWER OIL has introduced its new ‘Coaching the Coach’ campaign, using a playful DRS (Decision Review System) vs PRS (Pack Review System) concept to raise consumer awareness about verifying the actual quantity of edible oil in pouches sold as 1-litre packs.

The campaign features Rahul Dravid, who emphasises the importance of checking the net quantity printed on the packaging. According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, a 1-litre pouch of sunflower oil must contain 910 grams of oil. The net weight must be 910 grams, while the gross weight, including the pouch should be around 918 grams, depending on the pouch film’s size and thickness, a media release said.

Through this initiative, consumers are encouraged to flip the pack and review the quantity before buying, ensuring they are not misled by deceptive packaging. The message is clear: be aware, check the label, and make sure you are paying the right price for the correct quantity, the release said.

Gemini Edibles & Fats India Ltd senior vice-president of sales & marketing P Chandra Shekhara Reddy said, “Our campaign reflects our commitment to consumer awareness. We believe in informing consumers about their rights and helping them understand what they are buying in the market. It is important for consumers to check the quantity of edible oil in the pouch before they buy any brand, to protect themselves from being misled. At Freedom Healthy Cooking Oils, we assure that each one litre pouch contains 910 grams of edible oil. Our request to consumers is simple: check the quantity of oil in the pouch.”
