LIV Golf postpones inaugural Louisiana tournament

LIV GOLF HAS officially postponed its inaugural Louisiana tournament, originally scheduled for June 25–28, 2026, in New Orleans, in a move that underscores growing operational, financial, and strategic challenges facing the Saudi-backed golf league.

The event, set to be held at Bayou Oaks at City Park, was expected to be a key addition to LIV’s 2026 calendar but will now likely be rescheduled for later in the year, potentially in the fall.

Reasons behind the postponement include scheduling conflicts with FIFA World Cup, extreme summer conditions, financial uncertainty around LIV Golf. The postponement comes amid ongoing speculation about the league’s funding, particularly the long-term commitment of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Reports indicate LIV is exploring alternative funding strategies, including selling stakes in its teams. LIV Golf described the decision as a “strategic shift” to improve event timing, avoid calendar congestion, and ensure better execution.
