The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly sold four sponsorship slots for the Indian Premier League (IPL) for a combined amount of Rs 1,485 crore.
Per Economic Times, the four companies that bagged the slots are My11Circle, Angel One, Ceat (all for five years) and Rupay (for three years).
The bids were reportedly submitted to the BCCI on Wednesday.
Tyre maker Ceat Ltd, RPG Group’s flagship company, confirmed in a regulatory filing Friday that it “will sponsor certain segments of IPL matches, with an aggregate spend of about Rs 240 crore over five years”. It bears noting that Ceat is the incumbent strategic timeout partner of the IPL and as per ET has reportedly retained the same sponsorship category.
Meanwhile, while My11Circle, Angel One and RuPay have all come on board as associate sponsors, but at different price points.
Freshly onboarded fantasy sports platform My11Circle outbid rival and incumbent Dream11’s Rs 515 crore bid with a Rs 625 crore offer.
Online stock trading firm Angel One secured a sponsorship slot with a Rs 410 crore winning bid, beating back rival Groww’s Rs 380 crore offer.
Payment service providers RuPay also joined the IPL associate sponsor roster on a three-year contract with a Rs 210 crore closing bid.
Per ET, there were no bidders for the orange & purple cap, and umpire partnerships.
The associate partner’s annual base price was Rs 65 crore, while orange & purple cap, umpire, and strategic timeout partnerships had base prices of Rs 60 crore, Rs 50 crore, and Rs 40 crore, respectively, according to BCCI’s tender released on January 29.
The business daily, quoting sources, further reports that Saudi Tourism, Aramco and DP World are expected to ink direct deals with BCCI after the “pricing was established during the tender process”.
The developments come days after Tata Sons retained IPL’s title rights for a record Rs 2,500 crore over five years.
