THE COUNTDOWN TO badminton’s most prestigious standalone championship has officially begun, with tickets for the 2026 BWF World Championships going on sale. The tournament will return to India after a gap of 17 years and will be held at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium in New Delhi from August 17 to 23, 2026.
The Badminton Association of India (BAI) announced that ticket sales have opened through BookMyShow, with prices ranging from ₹499 under an Early Bird offer to ₹5,500 for premium seating packages. Organizers have made approximately 6,000 seats available across six seating categories. Fans purchasing tickets during the initial phase can also avail a 15% discount on most categories for a limited period.
India last hosted the BWF World Championships in Hyderabad in 2009. The 2026 edition will mark only the second time that the country hosts badminton’s premier global championship. The event will also be the 30th edition of the BWF World Championships, featuring the world’s best players competing for the coveted title of World Champion.
The championship was awarded to India after a reshuffling of major BWF events, with New Delhi eventually securing hosting rights for the 2026 edition.
According to BAI, ticket sales will be rolled out in phases, beginning with the opening four days of competition. Pricing will remain consistent through the latter stages, including the finals. Organizers say the objective is to make the event accessible while also offering premium hospitality options for fans seeking an enhanced match-day experience.
