Bengaluru Midnight Marathon set for December 16

BENGALURU:  The 16th edition of the PhonePe Bengaluru Midnight Marathon (BMM) is set to captivate runners on Saturday, December 16.

This year’s event introduces the Rotary 5K Run in honour of chief guest and Rotary International president Rtn. Gordon McInally, who will himself flag off the Full Marathon at 11.15pm.

BMM 2023, a member of AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races), is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 16, at Karnataka Trade Promotion Organisation (KTPO), Whitefield, Bangalore.

Online registrations for all individual events have been officially announced. The key individual events will include the Full Marathon, Agriplast Half Marathon, 10k Run, Wissen Fun & Furious 5K Run (timed and untimed) and the new addition – Rotary 5K Run.

Interested participants for the 5k run can secure their spots by visiting www.midnightmarathon.in (until December 15).

The theme for this year’s BMM is aptly chosen as ‘Run for Mental Wellness’, a poignant acknowledgment of the crucial role physical activity plays in mental health. RI President Gordon McInally, “As Rotary President for 2023-24, I am placing a special focus on global mental health.”

Organised by Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor (RBITC), the first edition of the Bengaluru Midnight Marathon was held on May 19, 2007 and has seen increasing participation every year since. With a legacy spanning 15 years, it draws over 11,000 participants from 21 countries and 22 States in India, cementing its status as a global ambassador of long distance running.
