The successful hosting of MotoGP for the first time at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) has revived talk that Formula 1 could make a return to India.
Arun Vir Singh, CEO of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), told The Times of India that talks were on to reintroduce Formula 1 at BIC in 2025.
Per TOI, discussions with the organizers are likely to take place soon. Singh also stated that it would be a “significant achievement” if both MotoGP and F1 were held at BIC annually.
The inaugural F1 Indian Grand Prix was held in 2011. The Indian GP was included in the 2012 and 2013 seasons as well. The F1 circus was expected to return to India in 2015 but was cancelled following tax disputes between the FIA and the Uttar Pradesh government.
