MUMBAI: Disney Star, official television broadcaster of TATA IPL, registered a cumulative reach of 307 million (30.7 crore) viewers for the first ten matches of the 2023 edition of world cricket’s richest annual tournament, the network announced Thursday.  

The broadcaster further declared that it has garnered 23% more viewers compared to the previous IPL edition. This reach happens to be the second-highest ever in IPL history (other than IPL editions during Covid). 

The TVR among affluent male urban sports audiences has grown by almost 25% in comparison to the last edition, Disney Star, quoting BARC data, further announced. 

Additionally, watch time for the opening 10 matches was clocked an 6,230 crore minutes. The average watch time of live broadcast was also up by 25% over that delivered in 2022.

The peak concurrency on TV for the opening match of 5.6 crore is also the highest ever in IPL history (excluding Covid times).

For the opening match, the broadcaster witnessed a 31% growth in TV ratings along with a growth of 20% in reach compared to last season. Additionally, IPL on Star Sports delivered 14 crore viewers on opening day with a peak concurrency of 5.6 crores and an engagement of 76 minutes.
