Seven scores Oz broadcast rights to World Test Championship final

The upcoming ICC World Test Championship final between India and Australia will be broadcast on free-to-air  television under an exclusive deal struck with local broadcaster Seven West Media.

The Test match at The Oval in south London from June 7-11 will be telecast on Seven and streamed on the network’s digital service 7plus, weeks before Australia play England in the 2023 Ashes series.

Lewis Martin, managing director of Seven Melbourne and head of network sport, said: “The ICC World Test Championship is the premier competition in Test cricket. The prospect of playing in the final has been a big motivator for the Australian team in recent years, while India is focused squarely on taking the mace after its 2021 loss.

“The fierce rivalry between Australia and India, played out at an iconic venue, will make this a competition that no Australian sports fan will want to miss.”

Radio rights with SEN and SENZ
In a related development, Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) has secured radio broadcast rights for the Test Championship Final. Live broadcast will be available on SEN (in Australia) and SENZ (in New Zealand) radio, digital platforms, and the SEN App.

Sports Entertainment Network CEO Craig Hutchison said: “We are delighted to take our SEN Cricket audiences to the Kia Oval for test cricket’s crowning moment and provide Australian, Indian, and broader cricket fans with a call they deserve of a tantalising test on neutral soil.

“There’s no doubt these teams deserve the mantle as the best two of the present test cycle and after the extraordinary Indian win in the recent series, to see them meet again on neutral turf will be fascinating.

“We are fiercely committed to being the home of cricket and take fans there and once again we’ll have a commentary team on the ground in London to deliver a world class call back into Australia and also our SENZ stations in New Zealand who also love their cricket.”

The Test Championship Final, scheduled over five days but with a reserve day available, will start at 10am local time on June 7.
