Ahead of the upcoming season of the TATA Indian Premier League, IPL TV rights holder Disney Star will be taking two of its regional language Star Sports channels off air, while simultaneously launching two others.
Effective midnight, March 15 (Tuesday-Wednesday), Star Sports 1 Tamil HD and Star Sports 1 Telugu HD will start beaming, while tar Sports 1 Marathi and Star Sports 1 Bangla will go off air.
The sports channels are among nine new ones the network is launching, while ceasing broadcast of nine others.
As per reports, this move has been in the works for the last three years but was kept on hold due to the delay in the implementation of New Tariff Order (NTO) 2.0.
