Wavemaker’s Jigar Rambhia joins Sporjo as COO

MUMBAI: Sports ed-tech start-up Sporjo has appointed Jigar Rambhia as chief operating officer.

Rambhia, who was serving as the National director and head of Sports Business at Wavemaker, leaves the GoupM agency after a 15-year stint.

He made the announcement via a post on LinkedIn, wherein he posted: “Thank You for 15 Years of fabulous memories Wavemaker India! See you soon Sporjo!!”

As per his LinkedIn profile, Rambhia joined Wavemaker in 2007 as Business director where he was heading the Indian Premier League media planning and buying team since the IPL’s launch in 2008. He was also heading the ICC media planning and buying team for the 2011 Cricket World Cup, 2015 Cricket World Cup, Champions Trophy and T20 World Cup. 

He also served as business head for key brands like Bajaj Allianz, Fiat, IDBI Bank, Shoppers Stop, Kings IX Punjab, and Pro Kabbadi. 

In 2011, Rambhia was promoted as National director and head of Sports Business at Wavemaker where he was looking after the ESP (Entertainment Sports Partnership) business for Wavemaker India. 

Prior to joining Wavemaker India, he was business director at TME where he worked for over two years. He was also associated with Madison Communication where he was head of the team handling TV implementation planning for Marico Industries.
