Alpine F1 extends Yahoo technical partnership, scores new deal

LONDON: BWT Alpine F1 Team has confirmed the extension of the strategic partnership with global web services provider Yahoo as the Oxfordshire-based team’s technical partner.

The Yahoo logo will appear on the BWT Alpine F1 Team A522 cars, bringing its global footprint to new audiences. The team will leverage the platform as Yahoo “builds its future vision of news, sports, entertainment, lifestyle, finance, media and communications tools”.

In an extension of the collaboration first inked in 2019, both BWT Alpine F1 Team and the wider Renault Group will have access to Yahoo’s ad technology stack, enabling the brands to reach millions of people across the world through its advertising and content distribution platforms, Yahoo’s own News, Sport and Finance brands, as well as access to Yahoo’s XR Studios where the companies will be able to build 3D, immersive and interactive content experiences together through motion capture, volumetric capture and XR Stage technologies.

Otmar Szafnauer, Team principal, BWT Alpine F1 Team, commented: “As a team we are always looking for synergies with brands as ambitious as our own. Yahoo clearly shares our passion for innovation and we are delighted to extend our relationship with such a premium company for three more years. Yahoo has proved itself to be an innovator and Formula 1 offers a significant opportunity to connect with new audiences and explore cutting edge developments in online media and communications. We are delighted to be able to partner with them to explore these new frontiers.”

Elizabeth Herbst-Brady, Global head of Revenue and Client Solutions at Yahoo said: “Our partnerships team in London, headed by Marko Johns, is building on their already successful relationship with Alpine and Renault through this extension of our deal together. We pride ourselves on being great partners at Yahoo and through global, mutually beneficial relationships like these we continue to bring the Yahoo brand to millions of new people who tune in to watch the fantastic racing in Formula 1 and help the Renault Group reach their audiences in creative ways through our global content and technology platforms.”

The Alpine F1 Team has also confirmed an agreement with FVP Trade, a globally regulated CFD broker, which sees the motorsport brand connect with the trading industry for the first time.

Szafnauer commented, “Motorsport and CFD trading share several challenges. Both industries are technology driven, high pressure environments where performance is key. In parallel, we value education alongside innovation as a means to extract the best possible result. BWT Alpine F1 Team is proud to welcome FVP Trade to our team and we are looking forward to our journey together as we both progress within our respective fields.”

Jonathan Greene CEO of FVP Trade, added, “We are delighted to have joined the family of BWT Alpine F1 Team’s Official Partners. They have a strong presence within the sport, with one win in their first season and very high ambitions to sustain their progress. This impressive pedigree and our shared vision on reconciling sustainability and competitiveness created the natural fit we were looking for in a Formula One partner.”
