AIFF set to move SC against HC order

NEW DELHI: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) is all set to move the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s order to declare its elections of December 2016 null and void.

“Discussions are being held for the past few days with top legal luminaries. We will take a decision as per their advice in the next couple of days,” an AIFF official told Calcutta Telegraph.

The Delhi High Court, in its order last week, set aside AIFF’s elections held in December 2016, ruling it was in breach of the National Sports Code and Model Guidelines, of which the national federation is a signatory.

The court has appointed former chief election commissioner S Y Quraishi as the administrator-cum-returning officer to conduct fresh elections that are supposed to be held within five months.

It also barred the AIFF from making any financial commitment and instructed the daily expenses should also be approved by the administrator.
