ALL INDIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION (AIFF) will meet all Indian Super League (ISL) clubs on 18 November at Football House in New Delhi to explore a feasible window for the 2025–26 ISL season.
“Following a meeting with all clubs on November 12, we have scheduled a follow-up on November 18. We’re also hoping for a positive direction from the Hon’ble Supreme Court to take Indian football forward,” AIFF president Kalyan Chaubey told Sportstar.
Chaubey added that the league could be staged between 1 January and 31 May, a 150-day window in which 14 teams would play 187 matches. He stated this is “mathematically possible,” though it does not account for a congested calendar, player fatigue or the logistical challenges of hosting games across multiple cities.
The ISL’s future has remained in limbo this season, with the AIFF and Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the league’s organiser yet to agree on a new deal. Their current contract expires in December. Meanwhile, the AIFF’s Request for Quotation (RFQ) for a new commercial partner failed to attract any bids by the 7 November deadline.
As uncertainty grows, several clubs including Kerala Blasters, Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Odisha FC have suspended operations, while ISL players have issued a joint statement urging an immediate start to the season.
“We have called the clubs to discuss this, and if all things go well, we’re planning to list the matter in the Supreme Court on November 19,” Chaubey said.
