THE ALL INDIA Tennis Association (AITA) has announced a partnership with the World Tennis Number (WTN) to launch a comprehensive digital platform aimed at modernising the administration and development of tennis in India.
The new integrated ecosystem will bring together players, coaches, academies, referees, officials, tournament organisers and state associations on a single web and mobile-based platform, marking one of the most significant digital transformation initiatives undertaken by an Indian National Sports Federation.
The platform, unveiled in New Delhi, is designed to streamline the management of Indian tennis by digitising key services, including player registration, tournament entries, rankings, licensing, coaching accreditation, event administration and performance tracking. The initiative is expected to improve efficiency, enhance transparency and provide stakeholders with real-time access to information through a unified digital interface.
At the heart of the platform is the integration of the World Tennis Number (WTN), the global player rating system jointly developed by the International Tennis Federation and its technology partners. The WTN provides players of all ages and skill levels with a dynamic rating based on match results, enabling more accurate player comparisons and competitive matchmaking across countries and tournaments.
By integrating WTN into its national platform, AITA will provide Indian players with internationally recognised ratings, making it easier to benchmark performance against players worldwide and participate in competitive opportunities both domestically and internationally.
The digital platform will also serve as a central repository for player profiles, tournament history, rankings and certifications. Coaches and academies will be able to manage registrations, monitor athlete progress and access development resources, while tournament organisers will benefit from automated event management, online draws, scheduling and results processing.
According to AITA, the platform has been designed as a complete digital ecosystem covering every aspect of Indian tennis administration. Mobile applications for Android and iOS will complement the web portal, allowing users to register for tournaments, update profiles, receive notifications and access live information from anywhere in the country.
The initiative comes at a time when AITA is undertaking broader governance reforms. The federation has adopted a new constitution aligned with the National Sports Governance Act, introducing structural changes aimed at improving transparency, athlete representation and institutional accountability. The digital platform is expected to complement these governance reforms by creating a more transparent and efficient administrative framework.
