BCCI looks to wider mentorship role for MS Dhoni: Report

TWO-TIME WORLD Cup-winning former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has reportedly been offered a mentorship role at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to a report in CricBlogger, the mentorship role the BCCI has offered Dhoni is broader in scope than the short-term stint Dhoni had during the 2021 T20 World Cup.

Per the report, the BCCI wants Dhoni’s involvement across all Indian teams, including the junior and women’s cricket, the aim being to groom upcoming stars in the country. “Dhoni is again offered to mentor Indian cricket,” a BCCI source told the platform.

Dhoni retired from the national team in 2020 but his following remains enormous in the country and globally.

Since his retirement, Dhoni has kept himself from BCCI matters and quietly plays in the Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings. Unlike other cricketers, Dhoni stays low key and can only be seen in high-profile weddings and occasions very rarely.
