BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA (BCCI) will convene its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at 11:30 am on 28 September (same day as the Men’s Asia Cup final) at its Mumbai headquarters, with the election of key office-bearers, including the president and Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman, set to headline proceedings.
In a communication to state associations, secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed that polls will be held for the posts of president, vice-president, secretary, joint secretary, and treasurer. Elections will also decide representatives of the Apex Council from the General Body and the Indian Cricketers’ Association, according to India Today.
The agenda further includes the election of two members to the IPL Governing Council, one representative from the Indian Cricketers’ Association, and polls for the Women’s Premier League Committee. Additionally, the Ombudsman and Ethics Officer will be appointed, while the Standing Committee, Cricket Committee, and Umpires’ Committee will be constituted on the same day.
With incumbent Roger Binny ineligible for re-election, current vice-president Rajeev Shukla is seen as a frontrunner. He could either continue as vice-president, move up as BCCI president, or take charge as IPL chairman.
