BASKETBALL FEDERATION OF INDIA (BFI), in partnership with ACG Sports Pvt Ltd, has unveiled the country’s first dedicated, year-round residential Basketball High Performance Centre (HPC) in Bengaluru. The launch of the IBL High Performance Centre marks a major step towards the debut season of the India Basketball League (IBL), scheduled for 2026.
Located at the Lakshyan Academy, the HPC is India’s first facility designed exclusively for elite player development. Functioning as a fully residential, year-round campus, it aims to nurture athletes capable of competing internationally, serving as the foundation for the IBL’s mission to elevate Indian basketball to global standards.
At its core, the centre houses three FIBA-standard courts, a strength and conditioning gymnasium, and a 25-metre swimming pool. Its integrated approach brings together a sports science and health department equipped with advanced biomechanics analysis technology, along with dedicated nutrition, physiotherapy, and mental conditioning units all under one roof.
The HPC also embraces a ‘phygital’ model, seamlessly combining physical training with digital analytics to optimise every aspect of athlete development. Through advanced wearable technology, players’ real-time biometrics, movement patterns, and performance metrics are continuously monitored. Smart court systems with cameras and sensors capture gameplay data, which is then processed by AI-powered analytics platforms to deliver deep performance insights. This data feeds into dedicated classrooms where athletes engage with video analysis and tactical sessions in interactive learning environments. Coaches can access digital dashboards to monitor progress and tailor training programs with precision.
Beyond the court, the centre also focuses on personal and cultural development. Professional recording studios and podcast production facilities will allow players to build their personal brands and connect with fans, while a basketball-themed barbershop and styling centre.
BFI president Aadhav Arjuna said, “The India Basketball League represents years of vision becoming reality. This is about creating national heroes and building a basketball culture that resonates across India. Basketball is an Olympic discipline—which gives our efforts even greater meaning. With the HPC operational—delivered by ACG in just six months—and the league launching next year, we’re setting new standards for Indian sport and opening doors for generations to come.”
ACG managing director Karan Singh added, “To build a great league, you must first build great players. To build great players, you need world-class facilities and experts. When we announced our partnership with BFI, we made a bold promise—and today, we are delivering on it. We are committed to creating a holistic ecosystem that supports every need of our players. Having personally visited top high-performance centres worldwide, I am honored to inaugurate this state-of-the-art facility as a new benchmark for excellence in India. We are also proud to welcome leading international experts whose knowledge will lay a robust foundation for Indian basketball. This is more than an investment in facilities—it’s an investment in people, passion, and the promise of a world-class future for our sport.”
