MUNICH: DFL, the governing body of German football has distributed a total of $1.38 billion (1.18 billion euros) from media rights and marketing this season across 36 first and second division Bundesliga teams.
Individually, amongst all the teams, defending champions Bayern Munich is said to have received $76.38 million (65.4 million euros), which is the highest and a whopping 9 times more than newcomers in the second division of Bundesliga, FC Magdeburg.
Bayern’s archrivals Borussia Dortmund are second on the list with $75 million (64.2 million euros) while FC Schalke 04 is third with $73.27 million (62.72 million euros).
The newly promoted teams to the first division this season, FC Nuremberg and Fortuna Dusseldorf also has gained big with $34.31 million (29.37 million euros) and $29.68 million (25.41 million euros) respectively.
