Capri Sports Fdn’s ‘The Sports Women’ to champion women athletes

Capri Sports Foundation has launched The Sports Women (TSW) – an initiative dedicated to transforming how women athletes are seen, supported, and celebrated, and to “building the ecosystem they deserve”.

The Capri Sports Foundation is an initiative focused on building a future-ready, inclusive, and sustainable sporting ecosystem, through partnerships with corporates, NGOs, brands, and policy leaders. The foundation aims to drive real change through Community Building, Grassroots Engagement, Research and Development, Performance Enhancement, Bridging Gaps Through Strategic Storytelling and Improving Access, while Eliminating Generational Barriers. On 6th August, TSW takes its first big step with the inaugural TSW Huddle — a curated evening bringing together athletes, brands, investors, and change-makers to spark new conversations, share insights from India’s first study on the business of women sport, and reimagine what’s possible when this space gets the attention it deserves. With KPMG as knowledge partner, the event is poised to set the stage for real change.

Designed to kick-start a “bold new era”, The Sports Women stands at the intersection of purpose and power — elevating the stories, voices, and value of women in sports. At the core of the initiative lie three pillars: Storytelling, Research, and Community. TSW not only aims to unearth and narrate untold stories but is also building a platform to create new opportunities—paving the way for a robust ecosystem that includes athletes, fans, brands, policymakers, and future leaders.

Over the years, Capri Sports’ robust CSR initiative – Beyond the Scorecard, has supported 11+ impactful programmes that use the power of sport to uplift communities. To date, these initiatives have reached over 10,000 marginalised girls, children, and underserved youth across India.

From providing access to education and nutrition, to leadership and visibility, there is a commitment to creating opportunities for women in sport, both on and off the field. Capri Sports, who own one of the founding WPL franchises UP Warriorz and the women’s football team Warriorz FC in Mumbai, has spent the last two years pushing the conversation around gender equity through powerful, creative activations, street art campaigns, menstrual literacy drives, comic books designed to inspire young girls, and sustainability-driven school supplies created for tribal children

“Our women athletes have long delivered beyond expectations, often without the support and resources they truly deserve. At Capri Sports, being in the thick of the game gives us a front-row view of both the immense potential and the glaring gaps that still hold women’s sport back. The Sports Women is how our Foundation acts on that understanding-building platforms, sparking new opportunities, and bringing people together to create the future women’s sport deserves,” said Capri Sports director Jinisha Sharma.
