CASIO INDIA has strengthened its commitment to youth development by partnering with the Sportz Village Foundation for its ‘Sports for Change’ CSR program. Together, they have been supporting 20 government schools under the U.P. State Board, aiming to promote sports and provide structured training opportunities for underprivileged children.
To mark Children’s Day, an inter-school sports day was organised, with Casio India sponsoring the event and felicitating winners. Outstanding performers who have consistently excelled at state and national levels were also recognised. The event took place at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Inter College, Gautam Buddh Nagar.
The ‘Sports for Change’ program seeks to nurture the physical and mental well-being of children by embedding sports into their daily routine, fostering sportsmanship, teamwork and resilience. The initiative also focuses on developing sports infrastructure including playgrounds and courts to ensure a safe, well-structured environment that supports physical education and growth.
Over the past year, the initiative has reached more than 600 children across 20 U.P. government schools by integrating a structured sports curriculum into their regular timetable. Students underwent assessments to gauge their physical abilities and identify sport-specific strengths. The top performers were selected for advanced after-school training at four Sports Development Centres (SDCs), where they received specialised coaching and opportunities to participate in tournaments and selection trials.
Casio India managing director Takuto Kimura said, “At Casio, we firmly believe that true progress comes from nurturing the potential of the next generation. ‘Sports for Change’ reflects our ongoing commitment to creating meaningful social impact by empowering children through sports education. We are not only helping them stay active and healthy but also building a foundation of teamwork, resilience, and discipline — values that resonate deeply with Casio’s philosophy of creativity and contribution.”
Casio India director Akira Watanabe added, “Through our CSR initiative, ‘Sports for Change’, we aimed to create pathways to sports excellence by integrating structured activities both inside and outside the classroom. The program has been designed to empower young minds — both girls and boys — to explore their sporting potential and thrive in an environment that celebrated inclusion and equal opportunity. Together with Sportz Village Foundation, we aspire to help children follow their passion for sports while fostering holistic development.”
