Comic Con India expands to Kochi; 1st edition in ‘26

COMIC CON INDIA, one of the country’s largest pop-culture festivals, has announced Kochi as the newest city to join its national line-up. Presented by Maruti Suzuki Arena and powered by Crunchyroll, the inaugural Kochi Comic Con will take place on 28 February and 1 March 2026 at AICC Angamaly, Ernakulam.

For many in Kerala, Malayalam comics played a defining role in childhood entertainment, with titles such as Chandamama, Champak, and the Malayalam editions of Amar Chitra Katha shaping early reading habits. The state also enjoys a strong homegrown superhero legacy, from the globally celebrated Minnal Murali to the recent blockbuster Lokah: Chapter 1 – Chandra, which introduced India’s first female folklore-inspired superhero, Chandra.

Kerala has emerged as a vibrant centre for anime fans, cosplay communities, gaming enthusiasts and a thriving creator ecosystem. Its blend of cultural depth and a progressive youth culture makes Kochi a great destination for hosting Comic Con India for the first time.

The Kochi edition promises a packed experience, fans can dive into their favourite comics, meet Indian and international guests, explore the latest anime and manga, shop for exclusive merchandise, enjoy gaming zones, and interact with cosplayers. The event will also feature panel discussions, live performances, cosplay competitions, stand-up acts, music, and a range of immersive experiences.

Tickets for Kochi Comic Con 2026 are now available exclusively on the District app by Zomato.

NODWIN Gaming co-founder and MD Akshat Rathee said, “Kochi has always balanced heritage and modern creativity in a way few cities can. The same city that grew up on Mayavi, Luttappi, and old Malayalam comic traditions is now also home to thriving cosplay circles, anime communities, and gaming cafes full of young talent. Fans from Kerala have long stood out at Comic Cons across the country, and it is time they get their own platform here at home. Kochi is ready for Comic Con, and we are excited to celebrate a culture that has been growing with so much heart.”

Comic Con India CEO Shefali Johnson added, “Kochi has a warmth and openness that makes it a special place for creative communities. Whether you walk through an art workshop in Fort Kochi, a college fest in Kalamassery, or a small gaming cafe tucked into a busy street, you find people who genuinely enjoy sharing ideas and learning from each other. That sense of community is exactly what Comic Con celebrates. Our hope is that this edition becomes a place where Kerala’s fans, artists, cosplayers, and young creators feel supported and inspired to keep growing.”
