PUNE: PHD Chamber organized a Golf Tourism Conclave and Golf Tournament 2017 over Friday and Saturday here with a focus on making India a favored golfing destination.
The conclave held Friday brought on one platform all the relevant stakeholders – the Government (Central and States) and the private sector to discuss regarding issues and opportunities affecting investment in the golf tourism sector in India as well as to improve the existing infrastructure and to further boost Golf Tourism in India.
The chief guest, Farooq Shah, IAS, secretary, department of tourism, Government of Jammu and Kashmir shared that Jammu and Kashmir already known for its natural beauty also has state of the art four golf courses which are a challenge even for the most avid golfers. He has also invited the chamber to host another golf tournament in Jammu and Kashmir in the month of April to enjoy golf and the beauty of the state.
Organised to promote India as a golf tourism destination, the event was attended by ambassadors from Taipei, Brunei, Darussalam, Georgia, apart from representatives from national and international golf associations.
Sports like Golf have amazing potential in boost tourism for our country. Also required are efforts in providing new innovative strategies to assist golf tourism business and enhancing the marketing and positioning of the golf tourism sector.
Gopal Jiwarajka, president, PHD Chamber, also requested all the various stakeholders to adopt an integrated approach towards improving and boosting the golf tourism sector.
After Friday’s conclave, the PHD Golf Tournament was held here Saturday at the Oxford Golf Course.
