CHENNAI: Defending IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have signed up with the South Indian liquor company SNJ Group, for the 12th edition of the cash-rich league.
The logos of the company’s brandy brand British Empire and beer brand SNJ 10000 will both feature on the CSK team kit. While the SNJ 10000 logo will be seen on the leading arm of the team jersey, British Empire will be seen on the back of the helmet.
The surrogate ads for the two brands (as the official stance is that liquor advertising banned in India) will feature British Empire glasses and SNJ 10000 packaged drinking water.
Speaking about the tie-up SNJ chairman Jayamurugan said that the company is excited and feels that the tie-up will mean a lot. “Team CSK and brands from the SNJ Group are larger than life and much loved. And a tie-up like this will be a roaring success.”
CSK CEO KS Viswanathan commented: “We are delighted to have SNJ on board as a sponsor and see this as the start of a long and fruitful partnership,” he said.
CSK won its third title in 2018 following their two-year ban from the competition. Appearing in the seventh final last season, the men in yellow are now on level terms with Mumbai Indians for most titles in the competition, while also extending its record of qualifying to the Playoffs to all nine seasons that it has participated in.
