Delhi HC rejects AIPA petition challenging IPA’s NSF status

DELHI HIGH COURT has dismissed a writ petition filed by the All India Pickleball Association (AIPA) challenging the recognition of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA) as the National Sports Federation (NSF) for pickleball in India.

With the court’s decision, the IPA will continue to function as the sport’s apex governing body at the national level, overseeing its development and administration across the country. The association has been working towards creating a structured competitive ecosystem, introducing standardised tournament formats and broadening participation at both grassroots and elite levels.

In recent months, the IPA has also begun engaging a wider range of stakeholders, including coaches, tournament partners and institutional participants. These initiatives have played a key role in driving the rapid expansion of pickleball across several regions in India.

Commenting on the court’s decision, IPA president Suryaveer Singh Bhullar said, “The judgment re-affirms status quo and underlines certainty to the governance of pickleball in India. It allows all stakeholders to focus on the larger objective of strengthening the ecosystem, expanding participation at a national level, and creating sustainable pathways for players and competition development.”
