Delhi Premier League 2nd edition starts from 2 Aug

The second season of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) is set to begin on 2 August, with the women’s competition scheduled from 17 to 24 August. The tournament will feature eight men’s teams and four women’s teams.

The tournament will kick off with an opening ceremony, followed by the first men’s match. The final is scheduled to take place on 31 August at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The men’s tournament will see the eight teams divided into two groups of four.

* Group A – Outer Delhi Warriors, Central Delhi Kings, New Delhi Tigers, and North Delhi Strikers

* Group B: West Delhi Lions, East Delhi Riders, South Delhi Superstarz, and Purani Dilli 6

The men’s competition will comprise a total of 40 matches. Each team will play a double round robin (home and away) against the other three teams in its group, and a single round robin (one match) against the four teams in the opposite group, making it 10 league-stage matches per team. The playoff format will mirror that of the IPL.

The women’s tournament will feature four teams, with a total of six matches played in a round-robin format. The top two teams from the league stage will advance to the final.

Delhi & District Cricket Association president Rohan Jaitley said, “Season 2 of DPL marks a new chapter for domestic franchise cricket in Delhi. With round-robin format and the inclusion of two new men’s teams, the level of competition will be significantly elevated. The women’s league also continues to gain ground and will be a strong platform for aspiring female cricketers in the Capital. Our vision is to create a high-quality, sustainable league that gives Delhi’s players the spotlight they deserve, and we are proud of the foundation that’s being laid with DPL.”
