NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party founder and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter on Monday to announce that as part of its plans to encourage sports development, the state government is set to provide employment opportunities for exceptional sportspersons and the criteria for the same will be released by the cabinet within a month’s time.
Kejriwal was tweeted as saying: ‘Good news for sportspersons of Delhi. Cabinet approves jobs in Delhi govt for those sportspersons who excel in their sports. Rules to be notified within one month.’
Since December 2017, the Delhi government has declared a number of initiatives to improve the health of sport in the state such as the formation of a Rs. 1.22 billion world class sports complex, setting up expert panels to nurture sports talent for students aged between 14 and 17 as well as increasing cash incentives for medal winners in top global sporting competitions like Olympics and Asian Games, having felicitated table tennis champion Manika Batra last month.
