Dharavi Premier League 2026 returns with 14 teams

The Dharavi Premier League (DPL) is set to return for its third edition this weekend, bringing together 14 local teams for a two-day cricket tournament at the District Sports Club on March 27 and 28.

The grassroots league, which has steadily gained popularity in recent years, will feature a prize pool of ₹1 lakh along with multiple individual and team awards, reinforcing its role as a key platform for emerging cricket talent from the Dharavi community.

What began as a neighbourhood tournament has evolved into one of the most anticipated sporting events in the area. For many young cricketers, the DPL offers a rare opportunity to showcase their skills in a competitive environment, with increasing visibility and community support.

Organisers said the league is designed not just as a sporting competition but as a platform to encourage participation, discipline and aspiration among local youth. Beyond cricket, the tournament continues to emphasise community engagement and social responsibility. This year, organisers have introduced an initiative where fans (electric fans) will be donated based on match performances, adding a tangible social impact element to the event.

With packed fixtures, enthusiastic crowds and strong local rivalries, the DPL has become a celebration of Dharavi’s sporting culture and community spirit. The tournament is expected to draw significant attendance over the two days, with residents rallying behind their neighbourhood teams.
