LONDON: Former Netherlands’ superstar footballer Wesley Sneijder is negotiating a deal which will allow him as a part of a Singaporean consortium, to take over the ownership of English football club, Blackpool.
According to a report in UK’s Daily Mail, two meetings have already taken place between Sneijder’s company vSport and Blackpool owner Owen Oyston last month.
Oyston is likely to sell the club following a loss in a court case that left him paying $44.2m to the club’s former president, Valeri Belokon. He has only paid $12m so far. The owner is also undergoing a divorce at present, being labelled ‘nasty’ and ‘vindictive’ in the High Court.
The co-founder of vSport, QiangBaihas discussed buying a 100% stake in the club using the company, which is a cryptocurrency platform backed by blockchain technology.
Reportedly, Sneijder is willing to being ‘hands-on’ in the running of a club after he retires from Al-Gharafa, the Qatari club he signed up with earlier this year.
