KONAMI has announced the successful conclusion of eFootball’s first large-scale India campaign, culminating in a celebratory event in Mumbai. Featuring celebrity-led fan engagement, the initiative underlined the brand’s long-term commitment to India’s rapidly growing gaming community, with sporting icons Sunil Chhetri and KL Rahul in attendance.
Running from August to December, the campaign brought Indian eFootball fans together through a mix of in-game activations, national-level tournaments and a dedicated community event that celebrated the intersection of sport and culture. According to the media release, thousands of gamers participated in special competitions such as the Independence Cup and Diwali Cup, helping foster one of the country’s most engaged football gaming communities.
One of the defining highlights of the campaign was the launch of an exclusive in-game jersey designed by acclaimed artist Santanu Hazarika, alongside a special in-game player card featuring Indian football legend Sunil Chhetri. Created to mark India’s growing presence on the global gaming stage, the collaboration represented a distinctive cultural moment for eFootball by seamlessly blending art, sport and gaming, the release added.
The campaign concluded with a grand meet-and-greet event in Mumbai, where fans gathered for a day of interactive gaming experiences and community challenges. The finale also featured autograph sessions and memorable photo opportunities with celebrity guests including Sunil Chhetri, KL Rahul, Ahan Shetty, Washington Sundar and content creator Focused Indian.
KONAMI eFootball general producer Junichi Taya said, “India’s passion for football and gaming has been incredible to witness throughout this campaign. The enthusiasm from players – both online and at the Mumbai event – shows the strength of this community. This is just the beginning; we’re committed to bringing more experiences that celebrate India’s culture and talent within the global eFootball ecosystem.”
