ESPNcricinfo reverts to original name – Cricinfo

ESPNCRICINFO IS REVERTING to the name it had before it was bought over by Disney – Cricinfo. The name “return” is a rebranding exercise instituted by JioStar as part of an “operational transition”.

This is just the latest change among JioStar’s subsidiaries set in motion following the completion in November 2024 of the merger between Reliance Industries and The Walt Disney Company in India.

“We will continue building Cricinfo as a definitive destination for the most passionate cricket fans globally and it will remain true to its founding principles of serving cricket fans everywhere. The next phase of evolution will include AI-powered innovations to enhance our story-telling, which, as ever, will stay rooted in originality,” said Sambit Bal, editor-in-chief, Cricinfo.

The platform will now operate under the Cricinfo name across its website and mobile applications. Users visiting espncricinfo.com or accessing existing bookmarks and links will continue to be redirected to the site without interruption.

Founded in 1993, Cricinfo has built a cricket archive spanning more than three decades.
